Kids These Days....
By Sweetechno Dotcom
This is in response to an article I just read that really made me want to vent a little... Kids these days could use some lessons in tough love. I am guilty of growing up in between two generations - one that grew up during the Depression and one that is growing up now in a much more materialistic environment. I can attest to the fact that I was spoiled growing up - still am to some extent ;o). If I had not made the choice to go to college clear across the country, I am positive I, and society in general, would have been worse off. It also amazes me how apathetic a lot of kids are nowadays. I have little ones in my family (no kids myself, thank you), and I can see the difference among them depending on the ways the parents discipline them. It doesn't help that their grandparents (all of them) spoil them rotten. Don't get me wrong. Generally, grandparents are going to spoil their grandkids, but there's spoiling them and then there's spoiling them rotten. It absolutely floors me how grandparents who "properly" disciplined their own children can make the job of parenting so much harder by spoiling their grandkids rotten (as well as doling out advice that they neither believed in nor followed when they were raising their kids). Admittedly, my grandparents spoiled me to a certain extent, but they were also quick to hand out some tough love if I got out of line. If it does take a whole a village to raise a child, it helps if everyone is on the same page. End of vent. Thank you for sharing.

I enjoyed reading your intel. I agree with you that grandparents can sometimes go a little overboard in spoiling their grandkids. Im glad my intel inspired you to start writing intels again. You did a great job. I would appreciate it if you would follow me so I can keep up with your intels as well. Thanks, Gina
